Tbilisi-Mtskheta

Duration of the tour is 7-8 hours. During the tour we visit two ancient cities: The present capital of Georgia- Tbilisi and the historic capital of Georgia-Mtskheta. We can see various beautiful and unique churches,  architectural monuments and the ancient districts and streets of the cities as well. During the tour we will have dinner in a restaurant of Mtskheta and taste some delicious , traditional food and wine.

Tour description:

• In the morning, 10am driving to Metekhi church, one of the  oldest churches in Tbilisi. There is a wonderful view of the city from the church.

• Visiting “Abanotubani”. It is the ancient district of Tbilisi, known for its sulfuric baths.

• Walking  along the narrow streets of Shardeni and Bambis Rigi. (small pedestrian streets, one of the single centers of the city’s cultural and social life).

• Seeing the street of Erekle the Second. (The street is famous with souvenir shops and galleries).

• Walking over the Bridge of Peace and Rike Park. (The old district of Tbilisi, located on the left bank of the river Mtkvari).

• Seeing “Sameba” temple and  cloister complex which is located near the temple.

• Traveling to former capital of Georgia- Mtskheta.

• Having  dinner in Georgian restaurant, tasting Georgian, traditional food and having a little rest.

• Visiting the cathedral “Svetitskhoveli”. We will also see the cathedral and complex in the yard of “Svetitskhoveli”. (Svetithkhoveli is one of the largest historical church buildings among today’s survived ones in Georgia).

• Walking along the newly restored streets of Mtskheta.

•   Visiting Samtavro Transfiguration Orthodex Church and Nunnery of St. Nino.  St Gabrieli’s grave, which has attracted increasing number of pilgrims.

• At the end of the tour, we will visit Jvari Monastery, which is in the list of inheritance of the world. There is also a stunning view to Mtskheta from the entrance of the Monastery.
